Division Manager
As with any senior management position, this onsite manager oversees a large, integral division of a company and its operations. These administrative professionals must have a thorough knowledge of all processes in the commercial construction field.
Generally reporting to a division president or vice president, a division manager focuses on short and long-term goals to increase profits. These managers also direct all corporate policies and implement realistic and competitive objectives for their region. In larger construction firms, they may be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day business activities, including business development, and client relationships within their region.
A successful division manager has significant experience in managing major projects through key subordinates and a firm grasp of each major project’s budget as well as the safety, staffing and other issues related to construction.
Ideally, a division manager has at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in civil engineering or construction manager, or a graduate degree in a related field, such as a master of business administration.
