Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Environmental health and safety managers analyze, compile and recommend proper action to comply with government regulations pertaining to the handling and disposal of hazardous materials and implementation of proper programs. Additionally, they develop, coordinate and implement a behavior-based safety program that targets a goal of zero recordable injuries.
These managers also develop, implement and monitor all safety programs in conjunction with established policies, procedures and laws/regulations in order to prevent industrial injuries and provide a safe working environment.
In construction, as in other industries, environmental health and safety managers establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate accident and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations.
These managers also assist in the investigating of all accidents by gathering all pertinent facts, interviewing witnesses and reviewing all medical and accident reports concerning the incident in cooperation with operations personnel. Their role is to drive effective behavioral change throughout the organization and obtain buy-in from all employees.
