Industrial Hygiene - Air Quality / Noise AssessmentThe goal of industrial hygiene is to anticipate, evaluate and control environmental and health hazards in order to prevent or minimize injuries and illness. The standards and permitting of these hazards are addressed in the Clean Air Act, State Implementation Plan (SIP), Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), the New Source Review (NSR), Title V, and Best Available Control Technology (BACT).
This area can involve a range of other topics such as burn permits, expert witness testimony, air toxics and quality management plans. With noise related issues the focus is on impact and abatement/mitigation assessment, ambient noise monitoring, noise contour mapping and land use compatibility analyses.
