Water Systems Engineer

Water systems engineering specializes in ground water and surface water applications, industrial heating, cooling and water handling systems, and corrosion analysis and control. Throughout the many years we have worked with water systems engineers, we have learned that expertise is required in profiling water from both biological and chemical standpoints, interpreting and evaluating the results and developing protocol for rehabilitation, maintenance and system design.

These engineers also study biological induced corrosion as well as the chemistry of both deposit formation and corrosion in water systems. They perform research in biofilm and mineral blockage of well systems and the development of chemical rehabilitation techniques and chemistries for water wells, potable water treatment and industrial water handling systems.

Water systems engineers are involved with projects pertaining to potable water, including reports, designs and construction services for intakes; water treatment plants; sludge disposal; reservoirs; transmission and distribution mains; elevated tanks; and pumping stations.

They may also be responsible for a wide variety of projects, including water system master plans, hydraulic distribution system modeling, economic level of leakage evaluation, water quality studies, disinfection, cross connection control, supply and storage capacity, fire flow capacity, energy evaluations, water main replacement analysis, water vulnerability and emergency response, and Safe Drinking Water Program audits.
